At Essential Photography your experience with us is divided into three parts: the design consultation, the photography session, and the viewing session.

The Design Consultation
This is a short session where we'll discuss what types of images you prefer. Don't worry if you're not sure, we can show you our portfolio to give you ideas. This will help us effectively structure your photography session and ensure that you end up with pictures you love. We'll also share ideas with you about the sorts of clothing to wear, props you can bring, and how to prepare your children beforehand.

If you are doing a newborn or baby photo session, we know how challenging it can be to get out of the house, so we are happy to conduct the design consultation with you over the phone.

The Photography Session
The photo shoot will last approximately an hour. Whether it's conducted in our baby-friendly studio or in an outdoor location, our focus is on helping everyone relax and enjoy themselves. This ensures we capture the best, most enduring images.

Our warm, nurturing studio has a special space for nursing and a change table. If your baby is unsettled or needs time out we encourage you to have a little play, a feed, or to spend some quiet time. We also have a wide selection of props to help create traditional or contemporary images.

Our outdoor locations offer interesting textural and architectural details as well as great spaces to run around! Old cobblestones, weathered wooden planks, grassy expanses, and bluestone walls, all offer additional depth to your images.

The Viewing Session
At a time convenient to you, we invite you to visit our studio to view your photographs. We are confident you will be thrilled with our work. This is your opportunity to decide which pieces of art you'd like to hang on your walls or purchase for family members. Images begin at $150 for a desk size matted portrait and most families usually spend from $600 to $3,500 on their image collection.
